Weather Channel Director To Speak at Chamber Luncheon

  • November 25, 2011

The Paulding Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that Stu Ostro, senior director of Weather Communications and Senior Meteorologist for The Weather Channel, will serve as the keynote speaker for the Dec. 1 Georgia Power Luncheon at the Paulding County Senior Center.

Since 1989, Ostro has been with The Weather Channel and his current duties include leading TWC’s team of weather experts, serving as a meteorological advisor for shows such as "Storm Stories,” and being the lead forecasting consultant for deploying live field crews. Stu also is a featured contributor to The Weather Channel blog on weather.com and USA Weekend. A focus of his in recent years has been identifying connections between global climate change and smaller-scale weather patterns. Ostro has helped develop content for The Weather Channel preparedness initiative WeatherREADY and content for numerous other projects. He has given many talks to the public, TV meteorologists, other scientists and emergency managers.

For the December luncheon, the Paulding Chamber of Commerce is asking that all attendees help “Stock the Pantry for Kids” to support the Paulding County School District backpack program that provides supplemental food for kids to have outside of school hours. Often this food is prepared by the children, so microwavable and ready-to-eat items work best.

Reservations are required for the luncheon. Call 770-445-6016 to reserve your space. The cost for the luncheon is $20 for members who prepay, $25 for members at the door, $25 for non-members who prepay and $30 for non-members at the door. Sponsorship tables for 10 are $225 with program recognition. Visa, MasterCard and American Express are accepted.
