All GOP So Far in State, Congressional Races
No Democrats or independents have qualified yet in races that will impact Paulding County.
Paulding’s representation in state government and U.S. Congress in 2013 could be decided as early as August depending on the last day and a half of qualifying for the July 31 primary.
At the end of the day Wednesday, only candidates who had qualified as Republicans had entered races for offices that cover parts of Paulding or the county in its entirety. But the field of the candidates won’t be set until Friday. Qualifying ends that day at noon.
Candidates who have qualified thus far and the cities they hail from are:
State Senate, District 30
Republicans: Bill Hamrick of Carrollton (Incumbent)
State Senate, District 31
State Representative, District 17
Republicans: Howard Maxwell of Dallas (I)
State Representative, District 19
Republicans: Paulette Rakestraw Braddock of Powder Springs (I)
State Representative, District 66
State Representative, District 67
Republicans: Bill Hembree of Winston (I)
U.S. Representative, District 14

Public Service Commission, District 5
Those seeking these offices should qualify through the Secretary of State's office.
