Arrest Made in Macland Road Murder Case

Tony Lee Grant Jr. faces a murder and aggravated assault charge following an investigation into a Wednesday night incident.

Tony Lee Grant Jr. has been charged with the murder of 23-year-old Jefferson Joseph of Hiram. According to a news release, Joseph was shot in the chest during a fight just after 11 p.m. Wednesday. He was taken to in Marietta where he succumbed to his injuries later in the evening.

The U.S. Marshals Service Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force (SERFTF) began an immediate investigation and was able to quickly locate and arrest Grant without incident. Grant is being held in the Paulding County Detention Center without bond and is charged with murder and aggravated Assault, both felonies.

Grant, of 1173 Jill Lane in Marietta, was arrested and booked Thursday night by Paulding deputies. His arrest came as a result of an investigation by the sheriff’s office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

PCSO officials notified Dallas-Hiram Patch and other media outlets Friday that detectives were withholding details of the case in order to obtain pertinent information from potential suspects, witnesses and other involved parties. Details of Grant's arrest were released mid-morning Monday.
