Authorities: Paulding Man Still Missing

William Carl Childers remained missing as of Saturday but had called his wife the previous day.

Officials from the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday said a local man remained missing but had called his wife since he had left his home Thursday afternoon.

William Carl Childers, 44, went missing from his residence Thursday afternoon. He is a white male, six feet tall and 300 lbs., according to a sheriff’s office release Friday. Childers was last seen about 3 p.m. Thursday at Scott’s Store off of Goldmine Road in western Paulding County.

The sheriff's office on Friday said family members believe that Childers may have intentions of suicide. On Saturday, officials said a phone call made to his wife seemed to support the family’s concerns.

“Childers called his wife [Friday] afternoon/evening from the Yorkville Market pay phone. He supposedly made more suicide threats and left the area,” Cpl. Ashley Henson told Dallas-Hiram Patch.

Deputies thoroughly searched the area, Henson added, but had not been located.

Anyone with information on Childers’ whereabouts is asked to contact the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office’s Criminal Investigations Division at 770-443-3015.
