Hiram PD To Set Up Checkpoints Tonight
About 75 officers from several local and area agencies will be stationed across the city tonight at checkpoints aimed at ensuring drivers’ safety.
Hiram Police Department officers will be out in force tonight with the aim of keeping roads in the city safe—and they’re going to backup.
HPD officers—along with authorities from agencies in the Western Regional Traffic Enforcement Network—will be establishing sobriety checkpoints, safety belt and child passenger safety seat checks along the city’s major thoroughfares.
More than 75 officers are expected to take part in the checkpoints. The Georgia State Patrol will field 15 troopers and a helicopter; law enforcement agencies from the cities of LaGrange, Rome and Temple, as well as Paulding and Douglas counties also will supply officers for the effort.
The safety road checks will be done in conjunction with the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety’s “One Hundred Days of Summer Heat” campaign. Hiram has more than 530 business establishments with more than 30 involving liquor licenses. The road checks will be to ensure the safety of all drivers within Hiram’s city limits.
A similar effort that established safety checkpoints in Hiram back in November, which had about 100 officers involved, led to about two dozen arrests—ranging from DUIs to drug possession—and more than 50 citations written.

The Police do not ruin lives, people make choices, and sometimes bad ones, and get caught..duh. I do believe there is bad police officers just like in any other professional jobs such as lawyers, judges, just because you are a police officer doesn't mean you are a nice person, some grow cold and cold hearted and change, but nonetheless, we need our police and the good ones DO NOT make enough for putting their life on the line for us. and for the post above which was ugly, I hope you are never in a situation that you don't have to call 911, since you are so calius, and don't say you won't, you DO NOT know what tonight, tomorrow or anytime could bring you, that you will need the authorities, my son was mugged and robbed for the 2nd time just this week...and Thank God for the police that came and they caught one of the thugs and He is in jail, where He should be, EXCEPT as a taxpayer, I have to help feed, clothe and put a roof over his sorry butt...so either way, our family looses..try getting your wallet stolen with all your "things", like Driver license and etc, and see how you feel then, however, your choice of words show your character, so I get it---I guess you don't need to be out driving tonight, huh? I'll be proud to show my registeristration, license and insurance card tonight.
