Budget-Focused Work Session Set for Thursday
The morning meeting is the next step before Paulding County commissioners bring the budget up for a vote at their Aug. 14 meeting.
Paulding County commissioners may not have gotten any input Tuesday night on the proposed fiscal year 2013 budget, but they and county leaders will discuss feedback on the plan Thursday morning.
No members of the public volunteered to speak during a public hearing on the budget Tuesday. County leaders now move onto a work session set for Thursday at 8 a.m. in the Board of Commissioners meeting room. The purpose of the meeting is to compile all the suggestions made on the budget and have commissioners consider the changes they want to make.
“We’ll have an opportunity to take public input—obviously not from this public hearing—but the public input we’ve received at this point, and input from each of the commissioners,” County Administrator Michael Jones said.
Jones said that if any changes impact major portions of the budget such as the millage rate, the budget would be re-advertised to the public in the legal organ and then brought up for a vote once the public was given the legally prescribed time to review the plan.
He added that changes made to the budget Thursday would be reflected in an updated budget document that would likely be posted on the county’s website on Friday.
