Recruitment for July's Community Makeover 2011 has begun in earnest this month.
This annual event is set for July 21-24. Individuals, churches, nonprofit groups and businesses all are invited to volunteer on a variety of service projects.
Engage Atlanta Director Paul Richardson said, "This year will feature participation on two Habitat for Humanity Builds, projects with schools and countless projects serving people with acts of kindness all over Atlanta.
"We are getting a ton of requests from area school systems, and we have the opportunity for more churches to get involved than ever before," Richardson added.
"Don't sit on the sidelines, but play an active part in engaging Metro Atlanta with the love of Jesus Christ," encouraged Richardson, who also serves as the outreach missions pastor for West Ridge Church, 3522 Hiram Acworth Highway (Ga. 92 near East Paulding Drive), Dallas.
Churches can sign up online here to participate in this year's Community Makeover.
Wednesday Lunch for Business Leaders
Business leaders are encouraged to involve more of their employees by adopting a project or becoming a Community Makeover sponsor.
"We believe that following God is not limited to just doing church with other Christians. It must be a part of our everyday lives. Help us engage your employees or co-workers with the love of Jesus Christ by finding out more about how they can be a part of Community Makeover this year," Richardson said.
For this purpose, business leaders are invited to hear how they can be involved by attending a lunch at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Macaroni Grill, 3625 Dallas Highway, Marietta.
Reservations may be made by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org.
