Free Spring Forward Festival to be held March 23
The second annual Spring Forward Paulding Green Living Festival is coming on Saturday, March 23.
Spring will officially begin on March 20. It is time to prepare for all the great things that come along with spring! Longer days mean more time outdoors and more time thinking about our many great natural resources: gardening, farming, energy conservation, fresh food, farmers markets, clean water and healthy soil are on the top of the spring “To Do” list. Paulding County Cooperative Extension and 4-H have teamed up with several local organizations and businesses to provide Paulding County residents with the second annual “Spring Forward Paulding” on Saturday March 23. The idea is to provide you with a one stop shop to learn about local resources for living sustainably in Paulding County.
Come learn about vegetable and landscape gardening, water conservation, energy conservation, beekeeping, local food and farmers markets, and local businesses from experts and enthusiasts including Paulding County Master Gardener Extension Volunteers, Paulding County Farm Bureau, Paulding County Water Department, Paulding County 4-H’ers, UGA Cooperative Extension, Paulding County Future Farmers of America, Greystone Power, Elrod Garden Center and many others!
The festival will begin at 10 am and conclude at 2 p.m. in the Auditorium and Lobby of the Paulding County High School. There will be speakers on Wildlife, Composting, Edible Landscaping, Native Plants, Paulding is Blooming and Environmentally friendly pest control as well as demonstrators from numerous local businesses and organizations. Paulding County 4-H’ers and FFA students will be on hand doing demonstrations in various project areas. Representatives from local farms and Farmers Markets will also be onsite to share with participants about locally grown food initiatives. You can bring the lid from your pressure canner to have the dial gauge checked for accuracy and safety if you'll be canning this year's harvest. Paulding County 4-H Horse and Pony club members will make concessions available for sale during the festival. Master Gardener Extension Volunteers will share gardening advice on everything from propagating plants from cuttings and seed to herb gardening and water conservation.
Thanks to generous sponsorship from Elrod Garden Center, Rambo Nursery, Paulding county Master Gardener Extension Volunteers, the Dallas Garden Club, the Dallas Woman’s Club, Paulding County Farm Bureau, Paulding County High School, Future Farmers of America and the Rotary Club of Dallas, entry to the festival is free!
