We're all watching our family budgets these days. Whether shopping with coupons or looking for two-for-one deals, we're taking advantage of all sorts of offers and savings that help us stretch our dollars.

This column will be dedicated to giving you five great local deals each week that will help your family’s bottom line, and since we do the scouting for you, you can save time as well as money.

This week, Frugal Family reporter Carolyn Cunningham scoured our local sources to come up with great deals on groceries, Chinese food and candy:

1. Kroger is continuing its Mega Event deals this week through Saturday. If you buy 10 participating items, you receive a $5 discount at checkout. For a chance to win 25,000 instant prizes, Kroger also is holding a Game Day Greats Sweepstakes through Super Bowl Sunday.  

With the Feb. 12 closing of the Hiram Kroger on Jimmy Lee Smith Parkway near Ga. 92, you can find special markdowns only at that location. On Monday, I found orange stickers in various sections throughout the store marked "Special." Also, there are several grocery carts near the produce section with discounted merchandise. All cosmetics are 50 percent off, and many of those items are already on sale. 

2. To celebrate Chinese New Year Thursday, Panda Express locations will be giving away that day FREE Firecracker Chicken Breast with no purchase necessary. Marinated chicken breast, red and yellow bell peppers, onions and firecracker sauce comprise the entree. One coupon per person. Single servings. The Hiram store is located at 4795 Jimmy Lee Smith Parkway. Hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. with the drive-thru open until 9:30 p.m. Phone 770-222-6137.

3. Valentine's candy coupons are corraled at SouthernSavers.com. Most of the coupons are printable, but three may be found in the Red Plum circulars for Jan.  23 and 30. You also may want to visit the Hershey's website, including Valentine's Day recipes and FREE e-cards.  

4. The Kmart store at 4215 Jimmy Lee Smith Parkway in Hiram is doubling coupons of $2 or less through Saturday. Certain restrictions apply, though. Only five coupons are doubled per day. You must purchase $25 or more of grocery and health & beauty items. Certain coupons are doubled only for Shop Your Way members, but it's free to join. There is a limit of four like items. 5. Walmart's weekly ad is good through Saturday. Walmart will allow you to use not only manufacturer's coupons but store coupons. Paulding locations are 4166 Jimmy Lee Smith Parkway at Ga. 92 in Hiram and 3615 Marietta Hwy. in Dallas.
