Made Your Weekend Plans Yet?

Here are five things to know as you begin your Saturday.

1. Though the temperature today likely won’t pass the 80-degree mark, conditions should be pretty good for outdoor activities, at least until the evening.

The National Weather Service says we can expect mostly sunny skies with a high near 77 degrees, but tonight’s forecast says there is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. The night’s low will be about 54 degrees.

2. If it happens to rain tonight, though, you’ve got at least two local entertainment options that double as fundraising events—Paulding’s Got Talent! for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the Dinner Dance Fundraiser for the Family Alliance of Paulding. See our “Great Escape” feature for details on both.

3. Outside the county this weekend, there are special events focused on model trains, wines and children’s tea sessions in three nearby communities; find out more in “Get Out.” And there are great looking houses to browse in Paulding and nearby cities featured in this week’s “House Hunt” offering.

4. While the weather remains good, why not think about your garden, and mark your calendar for this Thursday for the first in a series of gardening classes to be led by Paulding County University of Georgia Cooperative Extension and Master Gardeners.

5. Back on the topic of fundraising for causes, registration is under way for the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office's 11th-annual Cops for Kids Golf Tournament on April 20 at Creekside Golf and Country Club in Hiram.
