Board Moves P.B. Ritch Name to Middle School

Paulding’s next school will bear the name of a school closing later this year.

Paulding County School Board members at their meeting this morning could give the district’s ninth middle school a name.

On today’s meeting agenda is the naming of the school, which is slated to open for the 2012-2013 school year in August.

The district is in the midst of determining which students will attend the school once it opens. Earlier this month, officials held the latest public hearing on middle school redistricting, which had some attendees’ tempers flaring (see video highlights of the hearing here).

Return here for live coverage of this morning’s meeting. The meeting begins at 8:30 a.m. in the central office boardroom.

as a long term standing judge in our county,,,,i would suggest vinson middle school to honor our judge vinson.....why cant we do something to honor our ppl in the community that have been here for so long and have done good things, not just ppl with money that build it, the old money and new money,,,,,honor and dignity,,,,that would be my vote if it ever mattered,,,,i know it dont,,but my thought counts anyway. or judge beavers, honor one of our judges that helps keep our county,,,,they are our backbone at the end of every single day. they are our justice. the final word comes from the mouth of our judges, so i say honor one of them. that legacy would live on for a very long time, that would be a wonderful gift back to our judges, look what they go thru every single day for our community. OUR COUNTY!

LOL That's funny that you think most schools are named after "old money" in Paulding. Most are named after retired/influential educators. Mrs. Moses was a librarian, Mr. McClure a principal, Scoggins a teacher, Matthews a teacher, Shelton was a teacher, Austin a teacher, Jones was in education (principal or superintendent???) and so on. I don't know of ANY school in the county that was named after someone with "old money." I don't know, maybe PB Ritch was rich :). Can you give an example of a school named after "old money" in Paulding???

I was just making an open opinion and no i dont know what the schools are named after, and i was meaning the money that was building the schools.our older citizens and our newer ones that donate to help....clearly no offense and thankful we have the supporters of old and new money that are generous to our community, we need all that help we can get..., just made an opinion on making a new name - not starting a debate or issue ,,,,thanks and have a great day! Thanks for the education of names....make a blog on that, very informative, my kids went to school in almost everyone in paulding due to rezoning every single yr, and they dont even know that, so thats great ill pass that to them. Not every teacher or educator in our county has been that great as we all know,,,,,,ive seen the news,,,think we all have. Bet they ended up in the mercy of one of our judges though!!!!! Why does everyone have to be so arrogant when u post a simple thought on here, why cant ppl just mind thier own busines, i didnt ask u for ur input to my thoughts- btw. go teach someone that needs to know what ur teaching,,,,,IDC. I AM ENTITLED TO MY OPINION,,,,,NOT THAT ITS GOING TO CHANGE ANYTHING OR GET A SCHOOL NAMED AFTER SOMEONE WE SHOULD BE HONORING,,,SO WHATEVER,,,LEAVE MY COMMENT ALONE. MIND UR OWN BUSINESS.
