Photos: Chatt Tech Holds 'Freshman Soiree' in Paulding
Chattahoochee Technical College hosted about 200 rising high school freshmen Friday at an event designed to teach them about college.
More than 200 rising high school freshmen converged on Chattahoochee Technical College’s Paulding Campus on Friday to learn more about colleges and universities. The Freshman Soiree brought these students from Paulding County and South Paulding high schools for an hour of games, information and food.
“They are just beginning their high school journey,” Chattahoochee Technical College Recruiter Brookeanna Herring said in a news release. “But now is the time they need to be thinking about what they need to do for the next four years.”
Students learned about the differences in technical colleges and universities, as well as financial aid options that will help to pay for higher education. Students even played a version of The Price is Right that had them estimating the retail prices of books and categorizing colleges and universities from highest to lowest in terms of tuition and fees.
“The theme of the day was that college is available for everyone,” Executive Director of Admissions Missy Cusack said. “High school freshmen can get ready now by visiting colleges, taking classes that will prepare them for dual enrollment and learning about how to pay for school.”
