'Resident Evil: Retribution' a Non-Stop Zombie Bloodbath

The fifth movie in the franchise has plenty of action and plenty of zombies—all in 3D. Simply put, it may be the best one yet.

Brett Martin reviews "Resident Evil: Retribution," which opened in theaters Friday.

Milla Jovovich jumps back into her role as Alice. This time, she's trapped inside a compound making this a great rescue mission, as she tries to escape the land of zombies in Resident Evil: Retribution.

Fans of the franchise will love the resurrection of some familiar actors from other Resident Evil movies, along with some new ones. This film feels more like a video game than previous films because Alice has to go through different levels to escape.

The acting, overall, is not that great. But, really, fans of the franchise aren't there for that. It's all about the action, and there is plenty of it. The Moscow scene involving a Rolls-Royce car chase and Russian zombies was perhaps my favorite. But I digress.

Die-hard fans of the series should love this film and people unfamiliar with the franchise—well, there isn't much for you here. Sorry.

The Flick-0-Meter gives Resident Evil: Retribution a three out of five. I happen to like Milla Jovovich. I love zombie movies, too. But, honestly, this series is about played out.

You don't really have to see any of the other Resident Evil movies to understand this one. There is a big prologue that tells you all about what has happened so far, so, give it a shot.

Dinner: Cheeseburger Bobby's

The burger are good, plus this restaurant is across the street from Hiram's GameStop, where you'll prbobably be able to find some of the Resident Evil video games the movie series is based on.
