Update: Fatal Crash also Leaves One with Serious Injuries
A teen was flown to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite after a Thursday afternoon crash that also killed a Dallas woman.
All seven people in one of the vehicles involved in a fatal crash Thursday afternoon sustained injuries, with one passenger’s injuries deemed serious.
Officials with the Georgia State Patrol told Dallas-Hiram Patch Friday evening that 13-year-old Lauren Shaw of Dallas was flown to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite after the two-vehicle crash that shut down Villa Rica Highway for about two hours.
A GSP spokesman Friday morning reported that 69-year-old Janie Ruth Fournier from Dallas was killed in the wreck. She was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu south when she crossed the center line and hit a northbound 2007 GMC Yukon that was pulling a boat. Fournier was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
The Yukon was driven by Theodore Vozzella, 41, of Dallas; Lauren Shaw was one of the passengers in that vehicle. Other passengers included Franco F. Renullo, 33, of East Longmeadow, Mass.; Melissa Maria Vozzella, 30, Dallas; Alivia Vozzella, 1, Dallas; Isabella Vozzella, 2, Dallas; and Joshua Shaw, 8, Dallas.
All three adults in the Yukon went to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, while the children were transported to Scottish Rite.
Dallas-Hiram Patch will be checking with the Georgia State Patrol this weekend to learn of Lauren Shaw’s condition.
