Update: Hiram Man Shot by Authorities Dies
The 60-year-old had a weapon in his hand during the incident, according to reports published Wednesday.
The Hiram man shot by authorities during the execution of a search warrant on Nebo Road Wednesday afternoon has died, WSB-TV reported Wednesday night.
The TV station identified the victim as 60-year-old Danny Hammett. Authorities say Hammett was armed when they opened fire during the incident; CBS Atlanta reported earlier in the day that the warrant had been executed at 3851 Nebo Road at 3:15 p.m. by the Haralson-Paulding Drug Task Force, of which the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office is a part.
"When they made contact with the 60-year-old male resident he brandished some type of weapon. Agents opened fire and struck him unknown amount of times,” PCSO Cpl. Ashley Henson told WSB Wednesday night. Henson added that man was life-flighted to a metro Atlanta hospital; according to the TV station, the man was identified by family members who said that he had died at the hospital from his injuries.

Lmao..."cold blood". How do you figure? He was armed and didn't comply with the demands of the officers. Paulding County doesn't hire a 20 year old. You have to be 21 years of age to carry a weapon. Each officer has to go to mandate school before put on the road. These guys have to work hard to be an officer. They don't get paid enough to put up with law breaking citizens. Trust me the Paulding County Sheriffs Officers are not scared of their "own shadows". If there was a kid there he probably would have had enough sense to comply with the officers orders, and not go wave a perceivable weapon around. Good luck getting anyone's jobs..They were justified. if you dont like the cops there is an easy fix for that. dont call them and dont brake the law. i made it to the age of 21 before i ever saw a cop at my house and that is because my elderly grandmother forgot to pay for her gas and that is the last time i have seen them. it has been a long time since you could pump before you pay. if you frequently see the POlice at your house it is a sure sign you need to make some better decisions in your life. dirtbags.

Don't forget the windows were "blacked" out -- hard to believe anyone living there wouldn't know drugs were involved. And, IMO, dealing drugs is not only dangerous because of the law, but look at who you deal with in buying/selling drugs - you are more apt to get killed by your customer first! Happens all the time.

All Paulding sheriff's will shot a unarmed man, and then put a weapon in his hand and say he was armed. I have proff that the sheriff's in Paulding Co. lie under oath, in reports. They will make a "story up and get their stories straight" so it appears they were justified in they murder. This happens when they are lead by ther states best example of failure. Constructive possession of drug paraphernalia is generally much harder for the prosecution to prove than actual possession. they may be planning on bringing charges later...no one knows....but the fact at hand now is Gammet did not comply to officers demands and displayed possible threat to the officers...i dont know why people try to veer off the subject and pick at any little thing to try to make the officers at fault. I have never had a problem with anyone in law enforcement until Wednesday and still dont other than paulding police department. You are a very ugly person and don't have a clue about the situation other than what the media and liars in paulding county have told you so clearly you are the uneducated one. And what right does anyone have to judge a man they have never met. Because if you did you would know that he was a 60 year old man that was in bad health and still got up everyday and worked to provide for his family driving a tow truck and did not deserve this .
