Viewfinder: Bowling Benefit Held to Help Tornado-torn Ringgold

About 50 people showed up Friday night at the Paulding Bowling Center in Dallas to raise funds for Ringgold schools to help in continuing recovery efforts from the April tornado.

When the tornado ravaged her hometown of Ringgold in April, Maria Baker was heartbroken. Ringgold also is the hometown of her mother and the town where her grandparents, aunts and uncles still reside.

"It devastated the whole town, but they've pulled together," she says.

To help them in their efforts, Baker, one of the managers of the , helped organize this past Friday’s bowling with the assistance of Harold Bowman, the Paulding County Board of Commissioners, the Paulding Chamber of Commerce and Pirate Printing owner Larry Jernigan as the sponsor. Jernigan's business was chosen the 2010 Business of the Year by the Paulding Chamber.

Anyone who could not make it to the bowling event but would like to donate may call Baker or Bowman at 770-445-5477 or stop by the bowling center, 1132 Old Harris Road off U.S. 278 in Dallas.
