Chris Collins, you are right about the name issue. I'm used to using a profile name on most forums Read Morebut in this case and the nature of my comments; I believe I should own them. So I have changed my display name.

In lieu of this weekend’s “Todd Pownall” bashing that was done here at the PatchRead Moreb y our favorite airport proponent, I’ve decided to post a few things that should more than disprove any comments about Todd not caring about needy children in Paulding Co. As a matter of fact, it’s not just children that Todd and his wife Julie care about – together they help needy people across the board! From years of co-chairing Relay For Life, continuous donations to the Back Pack program at Poole and other elementary schools, anonymously paying people’s utility bills, adopting families at Christmas, to buying hundreds of kids bicycles over the years that he donated to Union Elementary and Helping Hands… say what you want about Todd Pownall, but don’t say he doesn’t care about people! The truth is, Todd’s been doing charity work long before he took a commission seat. His commitment to serving people, be it the underprivileged or his Paulding constituents, can’t be disputed. You’re going to have to look far and wide to find a finer, more altruistic man than Todd. And we thank you, Todd, for making such a positive impact on our county and the lives you’ve enriched. We realize Todd is a target, now that the primary election is over, since he’s the last person standing in the way of the current administration’s agenda regarding the airport. So, expect to see and hear lots of rumors about Todd, like you heard about Tony Crowe during the primary. We’ll address it as it comes, but please be aware that certain vested people have no limit to how low they’ll stoop. But don’t worry, Todd… we’ve got your back. Why? Because you’ve got ours! To see the article and picture about Todd donating bikes to needy kids, check out our FB page: Stop Paulding County Airport Expansion.

I know Todd to be an honorable, honest and trustworthy man who loves his family and his community.Read More I invite anyone who has any questions about Todd's Integerity, honesty, intententions or vision for our community to contact me so I can coordinate a meeting with Todd so we can discuss your concerns in the open with Todd. John Hyden 770-366-1552John, Thank you for your thoughts and ideas. I will be going through these in detail and get back with you next week and what I think we can implement. Thanks Blake -----Original Message----- From: John Hyden [mailto:johnfhyden@gmail.com] Sent: Wednesday, May 21, 2014 4:18 PM To: Blake Swafford Subject: Moving Forward I've most likely told you before that I have gained many new friends on both sides of the Airport issues. It felt good to greet those friends today. I want to encourage you and all of the PCAA & IBA members to move more towards presenting examples of openness, transparency and honestly. During the past 7 months I have heard many conversations where your boards are described as being disconnected from the citizens and several times more recently I have heard the term "bully's". I am not trying to discourage, instead I am trying to paint a picture of the misconceptions that I feel need to change. Several things I wish to encourage you & your boards to do. • Invite public comment during the meetings and during the week. • Share bullet points from the financial reports. Expand on financial wins. How much does the Film Studio rent for (a day, a week, a month), what is the economic impact to the community? The last time I drove thru I saw many out of town and out of state tags. Surely those drivers are spending $ here in our community. • Be extremely aware of what has worked and what has not worked. Utilize the lessons from "wins" expand on those wins. Be extremely on guard to avoid what has not worked. • Engage the neighbors. Ask their opinions, respond to their complaints, meet with them, reach out to them. • Utilize Citizens Wishing To Speak as an opportunity for you to gauge the feelings of the citizens. • Bring in a coach to teach your boards how to present "friendlier body language". I would expect the Chamber or your filming customer has a contact. • Utilize graphics in the room. Where is the 60 acres set aside for MRO development? Where is the 911 Center / Fire Station? Where are potential acres if more than 60 acres are needed for a large MRO prospect. Where is Atlanta's 10,000 acres? Where is Green Space? Any of our or Atlanta's acres that must remain Green Space? • Get rid of the "sheet" on the street sign. Surely Dean @ FL Graphics can provide something nicer, yet economical. The Silver Comet logo needs to be seen at 60mph. • Remember I am available to sit in with you and those with complaints. • Remember I am available to go with you to investigate complaints. In my opinion the timing to change your (and your boards) image is critical. I am here to assist you in any way you wish to utilize me. John Hyden Mojo413@att.net 770-366-1552 Cell

The only down fall will occur is if the right refuse to help create an economy that all can benefit Read Morefrom. The obvious ignorance of the right can only be corrected by some act from the movie independence day. That would clearly be the answer to get the right to agree with the left to ensure our survival. The right will do well to recognize that.

People who don't understand our political process will think it's best to leave well enough alone.Read MoreA ll men are created equal and you have the right to improve the quality of your life. If the culture you're currently living in does'nt allow you to , then it's time to take a look at your city and state governments for possible racial tones and or presence. Ask yourselves, are our city government racist? Study what is racism and proceed accordingly. Remember, racism is not to be tolerated anywhere.

Crystal, in your post you state that asbestos must be abated prior to deconstruction, you need toRead Moredo some research prior to stating that asbestos will not be trucked in, and trucked out of our city. Per an earlier post back in February: The EPA NESHAP Standard 40 CFR part 61, which requires the identification of asbestos hazards prior to renovation and/or demolition activities, doesn't apply to residential facilities with fewer than 4 units. That means a contractor can tear off a roof or gut a house with floor tile or pipe insulation or dry wall joint compound and haul the waste to a landfill. Problem there is that the Georgia Solid Waste Management Act, 391-3-4, requires that any material containing greater than 1% asbestos, be hauled and disposed of in an approved manner. How many contractors doing residential work fail to profile their waste properly? Unless a homeowner asks the question, most. If it was going directly into a landfill, it'd get covered and that would be that, no big deal other than failure to comply with regulations. But that's not what's happening here, they're going to dump it on your property to be sorted by your employees near a school next to a residential neighborhood. Seems to be a poor choice of location to me. Many thanks to Mark for this previous post in March!

Ok......so I was incorrect in saying that asbestos abatement is required? Or in not knowing thatRead Moremos t people apparently don't bother with checking for asbestos? Or in not knowing this facility is where the asbestos materials will taken to be "hauled and disposed of in an approved manner"? If it's the latter, then that is what I was asking and trying to figure out. Or were you referring me to previous discussions on this topic that I wasn't aware of?
Lou May 21, 2014 at 09:33 AM
Yes Crystal, There is a previous post from March that details additional information.
