Cyber Summit and Government Meetings On Tap Today

Here are a few things to know as you begin your Tuesday.

1. It may be a good idea to be prepared for rain.

The National Weather Service says there is a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms today. Otherwise, we’ll see partly sunny skies, a high temperature near 82, and a south wind between 10 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. A 40 percent chance of showers and T-storms remains tonight, which beyond those odds will feature mostly cloudy skies and a low of about 62.

2. The Paulding County School Board meets at 8:30 a.m. today at the central office. The board’s agenda includes an action item regarding a reduction in force, or RIF, plan—we’ll be at the meeting and will live-tweet details as they develop via our Twitter account, @DallasPatch. We’ll also compile the tweets in an article on the site.

3. The Paulding County Sheriff’s Office is hosting today the to educate parents and children on the potential dangers and risks involved with various kinds of electronic communication. Among the topics of the summit, which begins at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of East Paulding High, are the Internet, electronic exploitation, texting while driving, “sexting” and cyber-bullying.
