Hiram Council Meets; Learn Lawn Care

1. It may be a good idea to be prepared for rain.

The National Weather Service says there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms this morning, followed by occasional showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs will be in the upper 60s. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph shifting to the west in the afternoon. The forecasters have set the chance for rain at 90 percent. Tonight it will be mostly cloudy with scattered showers in the evening, decreasing after midnight. It will also be colder tonight with lows in the lower 40s. Northwest winds 5 to 15 mph. The chance for rain is 50 percent.

2. The will hold its work session and regular session for the month of May today at 6:30 p.m. Before the regular meeting, the council’s work session will begin at 5:30. According to Mayor Carmen Rollins, the council tends to hear presentations during the work session when possible to help keep regular meetings from running long. 3. Because it’s going to be too wet to cut the lawn, how about taking a class on lawn care? The class at the , 530 W. Memorial Dr., Dallas, is free, but you need to make a reservation. RSVP to 770-443-7616 or msheff@uga.edu, as space is limited. Participants who RSVP will receive a University of Georgia lawn publication. 

4. Daisy, a domestic black-and-white short-haired kitty, is the Pet of the Week we brought you Monday. If you haven’t met her, . And perhaps you’d like to go to Paulding County Animal Control to adopt her.
