Paulding County Extension Master Gardeners Offer Scholarship

Paulding County Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners are offering a $1,000 scholarship to a county resident who will study a horticulture-related field.

Each year the Paulding County University of Georgia Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners offer a scholarship to a member of our community who is studying or planning to study a horticulture-related field. Master Gardeners support this local scholarship through their annual plant sale, with the next one to be held Saturday, April 30. The $1,000 scholarship is awarded based on an application process. To be eligible for the scholarship, you must apply and meet certain requirements: 

  • Applicant must be a resident of Paulding County.
  • Applicant must be currently enrolled in (or formally accepted at) an accredited Georgia college, university or trade school, in a degree program and taking at least 12 credits per term.
  • Applicant must display a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
  • Previous student winners of this award may apply for renewal of the scholarship with proof of GPA and program of study.

 Value of the award:

  • $1,000 to be used for tuition and/or fees required for enrollment, books, supplies and/or equipment required for coursework in the chosen major at an accredited college, university or technical/vocational school in the state of Georgia.
  • Payment will be made to the student through the college/tech school’s financial aid office.
  • Funds must be used by June 1 of the next year after the award is presented.

  • Included must be a completed application available online through the Paulding County Extension Office, with three completed reference forms, appropriate signatures, documentation and dates.
  • Student must be planning to enroll to study horticulture, botany or forestry.
  • Student display of leadership qualities will be considered.
  • The essay on the application will be considered.
  • The Paulding County Master Gardener Association reserves the right not to award this scholarship if no suitable applicant is found.
  • Failure to meet the application deadline will result in the applicant not being considered.
  • A selection committee will consist of members of the Paulding County Master Gardener Association.
