"Make plans to stop by and honor Cpl. Love if you can. There is a fundraiser as well to help with expenses for treatments and any needs that arise," said Kelly Almond, who has kept in touch with the family to help provide updates.

In May, Love will return to Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., for another 18 months of rehabilitation, she added.

He is a Marine in the 1st Recon Battalion, B Company, stationed in Camp Pendleton, Calif., but serving in Afghanistan since last May. He "was point man on a foot patrol on the morning of Oct. 25, 2010, when he triggered an IED, causing him to lose both his legs and ultimately his left arm," according to Love's Caring Bridge website.

A few days later, Love was stable enough to be transported to Bethesda, Md. There he spent nearly a month at the National Naval Medical Center (NNMC), recovering from multiple surgeries.

In November, he was discharged from the NNMC and transported to Walter Reed for rehabilitation and possible adaptation to prosthetics.

Those who would like to make a contribution towards Love's out-of-pocket medical expenses may visit any BB&T banking location.
