Tornado Watch In Effect Until Noon

Today's severe weather could come sooner than expected.

The showers and thunderstorms expected for today could reach Paulding County sooner than initially thought, and that may not be the worst of it.

The National Weather Service just before 8 a.m. issued a tornado watch for 41 Georgia counties, including Paulding, which remains valid until noon today.

Beyond the tornado possibility, area residents should be prepared for likely showers and thunderstorms, mainly before the 2 p.m. hour; some of those storms could become severe with damaging winds that could gust as high as 30 mph—conditions that have led to the issuing of a wind advisory that will last from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. today.

Beyond the threat of bad weather, today’s forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies with a high near 84.

Tonight we could see occasional showers and T-storms, some possibly being severe, between the 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. hours. The wind from earlier likely will die down some—winds of 5 to 15 mph with gusts as high as 20 mph. Tonight’s low is expected to be near 60.
