Wintry Mix Expected with Black Ice on Monday Morning

The temperatures will be the lowest in at least 10 years and protecting pipes from freezing should be a priority, especially outside faucets. Wrap them tightly.

The National Weather Service is advising that Paulding County will get rain and a wintry mix of some sleet and snow flurries with no accumulation and has issued a winter weather advisory in effect from tonight at 10 p.m. through Monday.

The rain will start sometime Sunday afternoon but the temps will be too warm to change over until about midnight. The cold front with the winter weather will come through in the early morning hours of Monday. High winds and very cold temperatures will be behind the front and we may not get above freezing for about 48 hours.

The high winds will help in drying out the roads but there most likely will be patches of black ice on Monday morning.

The temperatures will be the lowest in at least 10 years and protecting pipes from freezing should be a priority, especially outside faucets. Wrap them tightly.

This cold weather is unsafe for outdoor pets. Bring them inside to a location protected from the temperatures and the high winds.
