Women's Club Hosts Forum on Children

As a part of President Barack Obama's stimulus package "Race to the Top," grant money was earmarked for education initiatives in the states.

The Paulding County Republican Women's Club will hosts a forum on "Common Core and How it Impacts Georgia's Children" on Wednesday, Aug. 7, at 7 p.m.
at the Paulding Chamber of Commerce.

Are you confused and concerned about what changes have occur in your child's education under the adopted Common Core State Standards? As a part of President Barack Obama's stimulus package "Race to the Top," grant money was earmarked for education initiatives in the states. Tied to this money is the Common Core State Standards Initiative (CCSS). The results may or may not be what you feel is best for your family. How does "Common Core" affect your parental choices and our respective state's education system?

Pam Smith and Sandi Woodall will present the information from the Georgia Department of Education. From the American Principle Project is Senior Fellow Jane Robbins, whose work includes education policy, student privacy and parental rights issues. She will present the information that reflects "Common Core" to be step back in our children's education.

Each association will present their information for your consideration and there will be time for questions thereafter. Please come and participate in this discussion for you and your children.

You do not have to be a member to attend and, of course, men are invited as well. For further information on attending this meeting or joining the PCRWC contact Corresponding Secretary Elizabeth Bauer at 770-943-3224 or email at PCRWC1@gmail.com.
