Paulding County residents after today will have one less local choice for their grocery shopping needs.

, The Kroger Company is ceasing operations at its Hiram store at 4215 Jimmy Lee Smith Parkway. The move to close the store, officials said then, was seen as a needed move to keep the company’s Atlanta Division in good financial shape.

As of early January, the Cincinnati, Ohio-based company had employed about 70 at the store. A spokesman said then that those employees would meet with the company’s human resources department to discuss employment options, including relocation to other stores. According to a company release last month, all employees will be considered for reassignment to other Kroger sites as outlined in a collective bargaining agreement.
