Bites Nearby: Mexican Restaurant in North Paulding Not Exciting

An overwhelming number of Mexican restaurants are available in Paulding County. Another option has opened in the northeast corner of the county, . La Bamba restaurants are franchised, so the food should be consistent with any previous that you might have visited. Advertising as “always fresh, always friendly,” our local La Bamba Mexican Bar & Grill was very friendly. We were promptly greeted and seated without a wait. The dining room is clean and airy with high ceilings and spacious area. Whereas in other Mexican local restaurants, the dining room has been cramped and loud, La Bamba was just the opposite. A large full bar is separated by a wall from the dining room, which controls some noise.

Our server, Daniel, quickly brought salsa and chips, standard at most Mexican restaurants, while asking for our drink order. Along with our drinks, we ordered the usual cheese dip, which was brought to us within three to four minutes. The dip was a bit disappointing. It was bland and only warm, not smoking hot, as preferred. The tortilla chips were not served warm and did not taste as fresh as other local establishments. After scanning the much too large six-page menu, we ordered chimichanga fajitas and flautas verdes (a La Bamba specialty entrée). The entrees were quickly prepared and brought to the table about 10 minutes after ordering. Entrees were hot and as ethically pleasing. My husband’s chimichanga steak fajitas were overcooked, making the steak very tough. He had asked for “medium” when ordering. The Falutas Verdes was shredded chicken rolled in flour tortillas and lightly fried. Served with Mexican rice, beans, lettuce, pico de gallo and sour cream—it was too much food. The tortillas were lightly fried and were satisfying; however, the beans and rice were only warm. The pico de gallo and lettuce tasted fresh.

All standard Mexican entrees are on the menu, including quesadillas, burritos, enchiladas, tacos and combination dinners. Most entrees cost $8.25 to $12. A small vegetarian and a kid’s menu are available. Chocolate chimichanga, sopapillas, churros and flan are the dessert offerings. Daily drink specials are offered; however, I cannot find anything making La Bamba more special over any of the other Mexican restaurants throughout the county. Although the dining room was more spacious, the food was not tantalizingly delicious. I would say this particular business is below average for the county. Establishments such as or , as previously profiled, are better choices.
