'Unwinding' at The Daily Grind

Relax at a local coffee house that can help you decompress.

Coffee houses are becoming more popular in the Paulding/West Cobb County area. The Daily Grind serves specialty coffees, croissants, sandwiches and sweet treats. To catch a quick, relaxing lunch, the quaint, rustic coffee shop is perfect. The shop offers a variety of lattes, signature espressos and other hot beverages; the Sinful Delight was silky, sweet and calorie-ridden delicious. A concoction of chocolate, caramel, vanilla, espresso and steamed milk, Sinful Delight is a cozy beverage on a rainy afternoon.

For my lunch break, I enjoyed the Unwind Club Panini Sandwich. Turkey breast, ham, bacon and Muenster cheese served with honey-mustard dipping sauce is comfort food, light and filling. Cooked on herb-crusted flatbread, a pickle and chips are optional. Other offerings include beef & cheddar, marinated chicken and grilled veggie Panini sandwiches.

Owner Matt Sellors has created a refuge from the daily grind of everyday life—the light background music, Tuscan décor and tables, the aroma of fresh coffee in the air. An uncomplicated menu includes fast breakfast sandwiches for the early morning commuter who only has time for a quick drive-thru stop on the way to work. For late evenings when you need to decompress, The Daily Grind has a small selection of sweet treats, while patrons enjoy weekend entertainment. Atmosphere separates The Daily Grind from the area bistros and coffee houses. Relaxed, spacious with an upscale feel, Sellors’ customers are comfortable. A friendly staff and prompt service are a bonus.

A moderate-sized conference room, furnished with a conference table and comfortable chairs is available at no cost; reservations are required for it, but it’s a great spot for book clubs or writers’ groups to gather. Most lunches are $5.95 - $6.95. Hot beverages are available in three sizes ($2.75 - $4.30).

Although a nationwide company, the Due West Road location of The Daily Grind is locally owned and operated. Matt and wife JoAnne invite people to stop by and enjoy a cup of java or share a light lunch with a friend. Even non-coffee drinkers can find a beverage alternative. The relaxed, casual surroundings will encourage conversation and familiarity.
