Honors for Hiram Mayor, Councilwoman

They were recognized at the Georgia Municipal Association's 80th Annual Convention in Savannah.

Two Hiram officials were honored at the Georgia Municipal Association's 80th Annual Convention in Savannah.

Hiram Mayor Doris Devey and Councilwoman Teresa Philyaw Monday received certificates of recognition from the Georgia Municipal Training Institute, which offers training to elected officials.

The training program consists of a series of more than 40 six-unit courses, and certificate holders must complete a minimum of 42 units, including three required courses.

“This is an outstanding achievement,” GMA Executive Director Lamar Norton said in a statement. “We commend Mayor Devey and Councilwoman Philyaw for their respective accomplishments and for the dedication these two honorable elected officials demonstrated in using this valuable resource to become more effective city officials.”
