Lightning Strikes in Dallas, Community Service Weekend Begins

Here are a few things you need to know as your Thursday begins.

1. We hope to not see a repeat of Wednesday’s weather, but the forecast isn’t all sunny skies.

The National Weather Service says we have a slight chance of showers early this morning coupled with a chance of rains and thunderstorms after 8 a.m. Overall, the chance of precipitation is 40 percent; otherwise, we’ll see partly sunny skies and a high temperature near 94, with heat index values as high as 101. Tonight, a 30 percent chance of showers and T-storms, mainly before 2 a.m.; beyond that possibility of a downer, it should be partly cloudy with a low around 72.

2. We go from the weather to a story caused by yesterday’s weather. A lightning strike led to the displacement of two families from their Harris Bridge Overlook apartments. .
