Paulding Deputies Top in Class

They graduated Friday from the North Central Georgia Law Enforcement Academy.

Deputies with the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office finished at the top of their class at the North Central Georgia Law Enforcement Academy.

Deputies Nathaniel A. Hicks and Christopher M. Stafford graduated from the Academy during a ceremony held Friday at the Cobb Safety Village.

Hicks received the John Marchant Jr. Leadership Award, which is given to the elected class leader. Stafford was presented with the Distinguished Student Award.

The 10-week academy trains law enforcement officials on state laws, criminal procedures, firearms, emergency vehicle operations, defensive tactics and other topics, said Nancy Bodiford, the spokeswoman for the Cobb County Sheriff's Office.

Other graduates from the Paulding County Sheriff's Office included Deputies Donald R. Beech II, Jacob A. Davis, Jason S. Litten, Heidi M. McCarthy, Wayne A. Rakestraw, Gretchen S. Sanders and Justin D. Shipp.
