Care-a-Thon to Feature Dallas Family

Last year, the event raised more than $1.5 million for research and programs to help children with cancer and blood disorders.

The annual WSB Care-a-Thon, which raised more than $1.5 million for research and programs to help children with cancer and blood disorders at the Aflac Cancer Center, will feature patient families from Paulding and Cobb counties this year.

From 5 a.m. July 25 until 6 p.m. July 26, 95.5 FM and AM 750 News/Talk WSB listeners will hear the stories of families from Dallas, Acworth, Kennesaw, Marietta and Smyrna.

During the broadcast, listeners call 888-750-2772 or visit www.choa.org/careathon to donate to the Aflac Cancer Center and read stories of patients like Declan Boustead, 7, of Kennesaw.

Boustead, who is fighting acute lymphoblastic leukemia, is in his third year of treatment at the Aflac Cancer Center.

"I have been able to go to cancer camp where I got to try archery and play tons of games," he said. "This winter I am going to meet Santa and go ice skating with different groups who help kids like me with cancer. So I guess if I have to have cancer right now, at least I get to have some extra fun sometimes."
