Soldier Still Needs $1,580 to Save Home, Help at Chick-Fil-A Tuesday

In the past nine days the Paulding County community has helped the family raise $4,700

SFC Jeremy Powell and is family still needs $1,580 before Oct. 30 to save their Paulding home. In the past nine days the Paulding community has helped the family raise $4,700 but they need to pay the back $6,280.64 or Powell, his wife Wendy, and their three children; Victoria, James and Jacob, will have to leave the house they love.

After posting a yard sale notice on Dallas-Hiram Patch, the Powell family raised $3,385.25, still needing $2,895.39 by Oct. 30 to pay the bank.

The Chick-Fil-A restaurants in Dallas and Hiram have agreed to help but only if 100 people to came out to the restaurant and signed the fundraiser book. On Tuesday, 154 people signed up, with more than 100 people signing up by 6:30 p.m. From that event, Chick-Fil-A gave the family $192; there was an anonymous donation of $50 dollars, and another $169 was raised in a donation jar.

On Saturday the family held another yard sale.

"We were very blessed this weekend," said Wendy Powell in an email. "We made $79 at our yard sale! Then yesterday we were blessed as one of our church family gave us $100 and someone from another church who knows our neighbor donated $500. WOW!!! Who knew that in only 9 days we could have raised $4,700. God did :) God is so good!!! I know people tend to say that when everything is going good, however while Jeremy and I know we would have never choose a foreclosure God did.

"Through it we've changed our lifestyle to a more affordable one, we've got our finances in better shape, and learned so much of who our God is and what he can do with nothing and how he can do the impossible," she said. "This experience--while not over, has truly drawn us closer to Him. We have witnessed surprise after surprise and answers to prayer--BIG and Small. We are overwhelmed by our Lord and Savior and his love for us!

"Well, we now have 8 days left and $1,580 left to raise," she continued. "Our Chick-Fil-A fundraiser is this Tuesday Oct. 22 from 5 to 8 p.m. We need 100 people to sign up again by 8 p.m. for us to receive 10 percent of the earnings during that time.
