Hiram's Christmas Tree Lighting Set for Dec. 6

This year's ceremony in the historic downtown area will honor veterans joining a Lighting of the Tree procession.

Hiram’s Christmas Tree Lighting will be held Dec. 6 and features a special processional incorporating local veterans and South 107’s Moby as master of ceremonies in the event’s eighth year. Residents from inside and outside City limits are welcome.
The perennially popular event from 6 to 10 p.m. again includes local entertainers on stage, a live Nativity scene, horse-and-buggy rides, an interactive children’s play area, Christmas cartoons playing on a
movie screen, and, reportedly, a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus.

This year’s ceremony in the historic downtown area will honor veterans joining a Lighting of the Tree procession.

Nearby restaurants and a variety of vendors will sell food to the crowd throughout the downtown area. Activities will be concentrated on Beatty
Street, Church Street, and Main Street, and road closures and off-site parking with shuttle service will protect safety. Church Street will be closed from the morning of Dec. 5 until the event is over, and Beatty Street and Main Street will be closed from noon to 10 p.m. on Dec. 6.

Shuttle buses will provide safe transportation to and from special parking lots at Holy Cross Lutheran Church on Seaboard Street, Hiram Elementary School on Sea-board Avenue, and a large parking lot off Main Street that can be reached by entering the downtown area from Main Street and Highway 92.
