Save a Life Tuesday comes around again!

This day comes around each week.  To those of us who are in rescue and volunteering, it can be a very stressful time full of ups and downs.  The joy and excitement for each one who leaves the shelter through the front door, on to bigger and better things.  The despair and heartache for those that do not.  The joy of winning one, the sadness of losing.
It is truly an emotional endeavor for those of us who fight with our whole hearts.
When will the cycle finally end?  Well, a total win is probably down the line, when more people are informed and indoctrinated into responsible pet ownership, when all the framework for No Kill is finally in place.  I've read that a No Kill Nation is inevitable.  That compassion for animals is growing and one day healthy and treatable dogs and cats will not be killed for space in our shelters with our tax dollars.
But as we face another Tuesday, the question comes, "how long?"
That answer is really up to you and I.  Will we insist upon the changes being made?  Will we make the ones we can?  Will we make our voices heard?  Big change requires many voices.
As you contemplate what you can do for the shelter pets in the future, please also consider going tomorrow to save a life now.
