Air Force Vet Gerald 'Mac' McGarvey, 83, Dies

Funeral Service will be held Wednesday Jan. 1, 2014 at 2 p.m. Bellamy Chapel Powder Springs with Cobb County Memorial Club in charge of Funeral Service Rites and Military Honors by the U.S. Airforce.

Gerald William (Mac) McGarvey, 83 of Powder Springs, died on Thursday Dec. 26. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years, spending five years in Japan, flying all over the world and serving in Korea & Vietnam. He was a member of Springville Masonic Lodge #153 of Powder Springs and a 32 degree Mason.

He is survived by wife Janie McGarvey, eldest son Rene Joseph Letourneau of Dallas (and wife Clara); youngest son Harry Arthur McGarvey of Dallas; and daughter Sydney McGarvey Parham of Marietta (and husband Joe); grandchildren:  

Joshua Letourneau, Rene Letourneau, Jr.; Doreen Rogers, Darlene Moore, Joy Rittweger: Jason Parham, Sidney McGarvey, William McGarvey and Joe Thurmond; and 16 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Mr. McGarveys name to the "Wounded Warrior Project:

Interment to be held at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.

The family will receive visitors at the Funeral
Home Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m.
