Black Ice Accident Claims Life of Woman Who Was Delivering Food to Needy

The Douglasville woman who died Friday morning in a car accident while delivering food to shut-ins will be laid to rest Tuesday.

The funeral for Alice Faye Tucker, 71, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, at Whitley Garner at Rosehaven funeral home in Douglasville.

Visitation is 5 p.m.-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 17, also at Whitley Garner. Internment will follow the funeral at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta.

Tucker was delivering food to elderly and disabled people Friday morning, Feb. 14, when her car hit an icy spot and she lost control on westbound Ga. 6 in Paulding County. She crossed the median and collided head-on with a truck, WSB-TV reported.

According to her obituary posted on the Whitley Garner website, Tucker was a retired school bus driver who worked 29 years with the Fulton County School System, and part-time for Arlington Christian Academy. She recently had been working with the Middle Flint Council on Aging. She was a member of Dorsett Shoals Baptist Church and was involved in outreach efforts at Consolation Baptist Church.

Her death has drawn dozens of comments on her tribute page on the funeral home’s website.
