Grace ‘Irene’ Shirley, 84, Dies

Grace ‘Irene’ Shirley, 84 of Lithia Springs, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 25. She was born January 5, 1929 in Paulding County. She was a homemaker who loved caring for her family and cherished spending time with them. Mrs. Shirley was a member of First Baptist Church of Lithia Springs where she was involved with the daycare program.

Mrs. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Shirley; a son, David Shirley; and her parents, William and Ruby Fuller Hicks.

She is survived by a son, Chris Shirley and wife Tracey of Duluth, GA; daughter, Judy Glover and husband Philip of Douglasville, GA; daughter Debra Shirley of Lithia Springs, GA; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Douglas Hicks and wife Ann of Douglasville, GA; brother, Jerry Hicks and wife Shirley of Marietta, GA; sister, Geraldine Walker of Dallas, GA; sister, Myra Sweat and husband Travis of Dallas, GA; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service was today at 11 a.m. in the Rosehaven Chapel with Dr. Marion Beaver officiating.
