Stella Cochran Townsend, 93, Dies

Stella Cochran Townsend, 93 of Villa Rica, GA (Paulding County), passed away Tuesday, Dec. 10. She was born in Cartersville, GA., Oct. 21, 1920, and was preceded in death by her parents, Henry S. & Nancy Bowman Cochran; husband, Lawrence Townsend; son, William “Bill” Townsend; daughter, Nancy Townsend; son-in-law, Johnny Norton; granddaughter, Melissa Ballew; and great-grandson, Matthew Ballew.

Mrs. Townsend was a homemaker and a member of New Georgia Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son & daughter-in-law, James H. & Patti Townsend of Monticello, FL; daughters & son-in-law, Lillian & Leon Norton of Dallas, GA and Jeanette Norton of Villa Rica, GA; daughter-in-law, Judy Townsend of Villa Rica, GA; brother, Wofford Cochran of Dallas, GA; sister, Mary Cochran of Dallas, GA; grandchildren, Susan Amos, Rhea Horton, Michael Seals, Corey Townsend, Tiffany Townsend, Jamie Townsend, Drew Olsen and Allie Townsend; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Dec. 12, at 11 a.m., from Clark Funeral Home, with Reverend Keith Stell and Dr. Johnny Turner officiating. Interment will follow in New Georgia Baptist Church Cemetery. Jamie Townsend, Sam Ballew, Brandon Amos, Cameron Amos, Corey Townsend, Andrew Olsen and Michael Seals will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, Dec. 11, from 5 until 8 p.m.
