80-Year-Old Woman Found

Mary Yates of Acworth turned up in Americus after last being seen going to church Saturday afternoon.

Update 5:40 p.m.

Mary Yates is safe, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. She turned up at a church in Americus early this afternoon and was taken to the Sumter County Sheriff's Office to wait for family to pick her up and drive her the 170 miles home, the AJC says.

Cobb County police have issued a Mattie's Call for 80-year-old Mary Yates of Acworth.

Yates, who lives with her daughter in the 5700 block of Brookstone Walk, was last seen by her daughter about 4:30 p.m. Saturday when the 80-year-old left for church.

Yates was driving a white 1994 Toyota Corolla with Georgia license plate 407 TMG, according to investigators with the county police force's Crimes Against Persons Unit.

A Mattie's Call is a public alert for help finding a person who is elderly or has disabilities.

Police ask anyone with information about the missing woman to call 911.
