Cobb Police: Crash Fatal for Dallas Woman

Authorities report that a 45-year-old Dallas woman died today following three-car crash.

A 45-year-old Dallas woman died today at as a result of injuries sustained during a three-car crash on Dallas Highway.

According to preliminary reports from , a driver of a red 2002 Volkswagen Cabriolet was eastbound on Dallas Highway about 1:46 p.m. and then attempted to make a left turn onto northbound Old Hamilton Road. A driver in a large white truck directly in front of the Volkswagen was in the same intersection but attempted to turn left onto southbound Casteel Road from westbound Dallas Highway.

Witnesses told police that as the driver of the Volkswagen attempted to finish the turn, his car was struck on the passenger side door by a red 1999 Mustang traveling westbound on Dallas Highway. A third car, a gray 2008 Mazda-3, was also traveling west and then struck the back of the Volkswagen.

The passenger in the Volkswagen, identified as 45-year-old Kimberly Michelle Nichols of Dallas, was transported to WellStar Kennestone where she was pronounced dead. The driver, an unidentified 16-year-old male, was sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Charges are expected to be filed against him in the juvenile court system of Cobb County.

Police identified the driver of the Mustang as Karen Lynn Flury, 40, of Dallas. She complained of injury and was transported by ambulance to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital. The driver of the Mazda-3 was not injured and was identified as Joseph Kirkland, 19, Β of Powder Springs.

Investigators are hoping to identify the driver of the white truck, who drove away from the scene. Anyone with information about the truck or the accident is asked to call 770-499-3987.
