An elderly couple residing on Crestview Drive lost their home following a fire Monday afternoon.

An elderly Dallas couple lost their home Monday following a house fire, the cause of which has yet to be determined.

The Paulding County Fire Department was dispatched about 5:17 p.m. to 136 Crestview Drive in Dallas. When firefighters arrived, they found the house fire about 40 percent involved, PCFD Deputy Chief Joey Pelfrey told Dallas-Hiram Patch. Firefighters turned off their hoses about 6:30 p.m.

Though the homeowners were home at the time of the fire, both were able to get out, with one sustaining only minor injuries.

The home was a total loss, Pelfrey said. A vehicle was in the home’s garage at the time of the fire, also a total loss, while a vehicle outside sustained some heat damage.

Pelfrey said a cause of the fire had not been determined as of about 6:30 p.m. as firefighters had not yet spoken to the homeowners and were in the initial stages of their investigation.
