Dallas Man Faces Drug, Weapons Charges

He and a Kennesaw man have been arrested on multiple drug, firearm and traffic charges in connection with the Aug. 1 incident.

A Dallas man who was a passenger in a 2000 Chrysler Voyager pulled over Thursday morning in Kennesaw was arrested after Kennesaw State University police found cocaine, methamphetamine and other drugs in the floor board of the vehicle.

Joshua Caleb Thomas of Dallas allegedly had a 9 mm handgun at the time of the stop, according to an arrest warrant. He and driver Patrick Solomon Tankoo of Kennesaw were arrested on multiple drug, firearm and traffic charges.

When police found the drugs, Tankoo offered an explanation.

"The accused stated that he was supposed to be purchasing drugs in the area because he was working with the local county police drug task force to help them catch big drug dealers," according to the warrant.

But when Kennesaw State police contacted the task force, authorities said that they did not know Tankoo.

Tankoo is in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center without bond. Thomas is being held there in lieu of $20,000 bond.
