Deputy Injured, Woman Arrested After Sunday Crash

The Paulding County Sheriff's Office deputy received minor injuries following a wreck that occurred early Sunday.

A Dallas woman is facing charges after reportedly striking a deputy during a crash that happened Sunday morning.

According to Fox 5 Atlanta, 28-year-old Monica Lindsey Bennett struck the deputy on Dallas-Nebo Road near Smith Ferguson Road.

Paulding County Sheriff’s Office Cpl. Ashley Henson told Dallas-Hiram Patch on Monday that the incident occurred about 1:20 a.m. Sunday, and that the deputy in the incident sustained some cuts and scrapes. Henson said the deputy is OK and is expected to return to work on Wednesday, his next scheduled workday.

According to Bennett’s arrest report, which is attached to this article in PDF form, she faces charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving on the wrong side of the road and driving without headlights.
