Federal Arms Charge Conviction for Dallas Man

Darren Wesley Huff was convicted on a federal arms charge Tuesday, the Associated Press reports.

A Dallas man was convicted Tuesday on a federal arms charge stemming from an April 2010 incident in Tennessee.

The Associated Press reported that 41-year-old Darren Wesley Huff faces up to five years in prison after being found guilty of carrying a firearm in interstate commerce with the intent to use it in a civil disorder.

An article from the Knoxville News Sentinel last year reported that Huff had allegedly confessed to traveling from his home to Madisonville, Tenn., with guns and ammunition in an attempt to take over the town after a grand jury there refused to indict President Barack Obama for treason. The news outlet reported that Huff was among the “birther” movement that claims Obama is not a U.S. citizen and therefore not eligible to be president.

The AP reported last week that Huff told FBI agents he had aimed to help a military retiree who was arrested after he tried to put the grand jury's foreman under citizen's arrest.

A Facebook page established last year and titled “Support Darren Huff and stand for what IS right.” had 129 fans as of Tuesday afternoon, but the page’s organizer(s) have not updated it since December.
