Pedestrian Killed, Dallas Driver Involved

A Dallas man struck a Kennesaw woman just south of Mack Dobbs Road early Thursday.

Cobb County Police say 43-year-old Stephen O. Nehls, of Dallas, was the driver involved in a pedestrian fatality police are investigating that occurred early Thursday in the southbound lanes of Cobb Parkway just south of Mack Dobbs Road.

According to a CCPD news release, the incident occurred about 3:43 a.m. when a white 2004 Toyota Tundra truck going southbound on Cobb Parkway struck a woman, identified as 20-year-old Hannah M. Straton of Kennesaw, in the roadway.

Police say Nehls immediately pulled to the side of the roadway and called 911. When Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services arrived on the scene along with Cobb and Kennesaw Police Departments, they discovered Straton’s body lying just off the western edge of the roadway.

Alcohol use by Straton is suspected to be a contributing factor in the collision, investigators say, and officials do not expect to charge Nehls in connection with the collision.
