Posted on Facebook: Sheriff Warns of IRS Phone Scams in Paulding

Callers pretend to be IRS agents claiming you owe back taxes.

The Paulding County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents that phone scams in which the caller pretends to be an IRS agent looking for back taxes have continued in the area.

The agency posted on its Facebook page the warning and a link to an IRS alert on the scams. The fraudulent callers use fake names, badge numbers and some may be able to recite the last four digits of your social security number.
