Saturday's Murder Suspect Arrested

Chanz Labron McGarity is accused of shooting James Hendon, 41, on Saturday.

Chanz Labron McGarity, 21, was arrested Monday at approximately 10:15 p.m. on a murder charge. McGarity is accused of shooting James Hendon, 41, on Saturday. Hendon was shot at approximately 9:30 p.m. in front of Mr. G's Convenience Store, located on Merchant's Drive in the Paulding Plaza Shopping Center. 

Three other men were involved in an altercation and Hendon was on his way to buy lottery tickets when he was punched in the face by the murderer and then shot dead.

McGarity was found at a female friend's apartment on Six Flags Drive in Cobb County. Officers from the U.S. Marshall's Office, the Paulding County Sheriff's Department and the Dallas Police Department took part in the arrest.

Arrest reports indicated that McGarity was arrested in 2012 in Paulding County for burglary.

McGarity is currently being held in the Paulding County jail on no bond.
