"Unsubstantiated rumor" said threat arose from conflict between 4 students.

An “unsubstantiated rumor” about violence threatened at Paulding County High School had school administrators and the sheriff’s department on guard Thursday.

WSB-TV reported the threats were made via social media and may have been gang-related.

Additional law enforcement was placed at the school.

The Paulding County Sheriff’s Office posted on its Facebook page the unknown threat “arose from a conflict between four students at the school.” The sheriff’s office encouraged anyone who has information on the incident to come forward.

WSB reported the sheriff’s public information officer said the threat may be gang-related, but had no details.

There was no additional information immediately known.
