9/11 Ceremony Tuesday; Commissioners Meeting Thursday

The county’s annual remembrance of the events of Sept. 11, 2001, will be held on the 11th anniversary of the terrorist attacks. County commissioners will not meet that day, but rather, later in the week.

The public is invited to attend a ceremony Tuesday morning aimed at remembering those who lost their lives and sacrificed themselves for others during the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

The ceremony, which is being held at in Dallas, will begin at 9 a.m. The event is a joint effort between the and the .

Though Tuesday would typically be a meeting day for the , as it is the second Tuesday of the month, commissioners will not gather this week until Thursday. The meeting was moved due to required training, according to the county’s website.

The commissioners’ Thursday gatherings will be held at the same time as they would typically be held on the second Tuesday—10 a.m. for their work session and 2 p.m. for their business session.

Commissioners’ other regularly scheduled meeting day is the fourth Tuesday of the month, with that day’s work session at 10 a.m. and business session at 7 p.m.

Those who attend Thursday’s meetings, which will be held in the commissioners’ boardroom of the Watson Government Complex in Dallas, will be able to see a part of 9/11 history—a piece of steel from the World Trade Center. , it has been on display on the first floor of the complex.
