Arnold First to Qualify for Dallas City Council

Today is the first day to qualify for the Nov. 5 general election. Those running for the Dallas City Council must submit their Declaration of Intent by Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.

Nancy Arnold, council woman at large, is the first person to submit her intent to run for Dallas City Council in the Nov. 5 general election, according to City Clerk Sarah Ruff.

Today is the first day for candidates to qualify for the Nov. 5 municipal general election.

In addition to the "at large" seat, Wards 1 and 3 are also up for election. The Ward 1 seat is currently held by Council Member Chris Carter and Ward 3 seat is held by R. Griffin White. No other candidates have yet filed their Declaration of Intent, according to Ruff.

Candidates may quality to be on the ballot during normal business hours, at the Dallas City Hall, 129 East Memorial Drive, beginning today and ending Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, at 4:30 p.m.

The qualification fees are set at $150 for the office of council member.
